On the verge of runaway...

Postby 75Dodge » Tue May 13, 2008 11:30 am

I got my pump all back together! And man is that truck running great! So now I want to turn in the power screw. Problem is, when I get to just a couple of turns away from the collar on the screw, she starts running away. I understand what is happening and what causes runaway. My question is, how come so many other guys can bottom the thing out and not have it?

I have adjusted my low idle screw, too. THANKS!

Every pump is different. Consider yourself lucky, there's more power in a non intercooled 1st Gen engine than the intercooled. Mines simular to yours, there's plenty of threads left on the fuel screw but run away prevents turning it more.

I have the linkage dialed in for absolute maximum throttle travel, fuel screw maxed, star wheel bottomed etc. And when I put the skinny one down it rolls a black cloud bigtime... 35psi and too high of EGT and climbing. I hope I don't scarf this weenie turbo before I get something more appropriate in here...
