Randyswelding- I was having similar issues with my 92- high EGTs and not-so-high boost levels to go with it. I tested my intercooler system and found several leaks. It eventually ended up replacing the entire system with one from a 96, and I dropped 300deg EGT across the board. Even after putting the stock turbo back on, I havent hit 1250 yet, and cooldown time is almost zero.

Point is, you may well benefit from a newer/ bigger turbo, but dont forget you are running a 16 year old IC system that is likely leaky, and a bigger turbo wont help that.

No doubt with a stock turbo you are past your upper limit for longevity and efficiency. I had a HX35/40hybrid on my D350 that helped almost as much as the intercooler swap.
