Top Speed????

Postby Rug_Trucker » Tue Jul 01, 2008 9:27 am

On the mat yesterday on flat ground 79-80mph. Nothing more!

That sound right for a '93 D350? I don't know the rear gear.

If it's stock RPM with 4.10 gears, that's about right. If you have 3.54s, check throttle linkage slack, and make sure you're getting full throttle travel.

There SHOULD (operative word) be a tag on the rear diff between two vertically aligned bolts with the BOM# (6 digit) and ratio. If you have a nicer truck, it may be on a tag under the left front edge of the hood.

SNOOT- you have a rare pickup (or a tight tranny and 366 spring)- Mom's would do almost 100mph 10 years ago; wont hardly do 90 now, even with a new tranny.

my work truck is a 93 extra cab 4x4 duallie. It's got a getrag and 4:10's I've turned the pump up and it will only do 71mph :x I haven't had a chance to check the throttle travel though.
My 91 with 3:54's, a getrag, turned up pump would only do 90mph before my 366 spring. Now it will break 100mph.

I checked for a tag when I was buying the truck. None there. The rear had been rebuilt. The ABS light is always on :( Might not hooked that up right?

When I get time I will jack up the rear and check it. I do know it is a sure grip. I dug some mighty bi holes in the driveway power breaking it

I wouldn't doubt that throttle linkage is sloppy. I have the next two days off and I a working on the 4 speed project, and BBD rebuild for the Duster.

My speedo doesn't go high enough. I can peg it at will.

A couple of weeks ago when the truck got dynoed the operator spun it up to 135 MPH. Then he decided he was going to dyno it in 3rd instead of OD.

It defueled at 92 MPH roller speed in 3rd. Thats with a stock governor spring also.

Both of my 89's with 727 and 3.08's maxed out at 76 to 80 mph. before high idle screw was backed out. That is plenty fast for these pigs. Stoping as we all know is a chore.

RT, that's when the governor stops fueling at top end. ;)
