egts and cool down time

Postby GO OVRIT » Fri Jul 25, 2008 7:38 pm

What are most of you running at normal unloaded cruising speed?(55-60) Also what could contribute to slow cool down times. I always like to let the pyro come down before I cut the truck off and its seems to take longer on my 92 than anything else I've had. Also, how responsive are mechanical pyros? I've never seen mine move as fast up or down as a buddy's electric isspro guage.

At 60 MPH. I see 800 EGT with 4 lbs of boost from a HX40/16. Cool down times are normaly around 1 minute for me.

Mine are about the same as Philips. Cools down quick usually, a minute or 2. H1C w/ a Stage IV kit.
My mech pyro is fast, as soon as you step on it, the needle is coming up. Sounds like your pyro is bad or the probe is coated with soot or something.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

your egts spike and drop real quik. My needle really moves fast when I floor it. I have heard some gauges are slow and that will give you delayed readings.

If the probe for your pyro is located post turbo it would make it more sluggish to react. My pyro is an autometer Z-series and the probe is pre turbo, it reacts real fast. I've driven two trucks with isspro's that had post turbo probes and were a lot more sluggish to react. Neither of those trucks were turned up as high as mine though.

My D350 runs about 550-600 at 55-60mph, in the manifold. I have a stock H1C/ 18, and a 96 Dodge intercooler and piping, which contributes to my coolness. HX35/40 & 16cm cut about 50deg from that.

W350 with the Bully Dog 80s (smoky assed marine sticks) and the aforementioned HX35/40 runs 7-800 at 60mph, 3-5psi boost, in the manifold.

Both trucks are club cab, duallies, with 5speeds and 3.54s.
