i believe the steering boxes are the same, and i think a dana off of a ford willwork, but i am not sure... the frames are the same and i believe the a-frame unbolts and the shackles bolt on that simple... Maximum altitude in san antonio told me it was the easiest and most strait forward transformation to do... you can even reuse your tansmission with a few alterations.

The Ford 60 is offset to the wrong side to use it with an original NP205 t-case setup. Since you will be needing to go into the trans to change tailhousings, there are two things you can do: get a Ford t-case and front end and mess with the mounting stuff to get it to bolt to your trans or get a Dodge/Chevy Dana 60 and an NP205 from a Dodge with the same transmission as yours.

The chevy will work, but it is a little different. You'll have to fab up some shock mounts and get a different steering arm. There's a 1/2" difference in center pin to center pin width, but the springs will flex that much. You'll have to redo the brake lines. The steering box will work, but you need to get the 4wd adapter plate and move it up on the frame. The plate is still avilable and the holes are already there. The spring hangers were still available a year and a half ago when I got one last.

wouldn't it be easier to find a rotten or body damaged 4x4 and swap the body parts over to the new frame ?

I'd say on these trucks its a toss up. 6 of one 1/2 a dozen of another. It would be easier to find another truck that was 4wd and in good shape. :D

the transfer case in the gasser is most likely a aluminum case chain unit like a 208. Diffrent......

Yes the NP205 auto t-case has a smaller input than the manual np205 t-case.

is it just a shaft that smaller... is it economically convertable... or should i just look for another truck?

Is the 92 a ctd or a gasser? If its a gasser than the t case is deffinately different. Also, if its a gasser 3/4 ton then its got a d44 in the front not a 60. They usually came with 3.54s and sometimes with 4.10s.(gas and diesel)

somone on this forum is selling me an entire truck minus engine... 92 4wd 3/4 ton club cab ctd auto with o/d... if the gear ratio is the same what else do i need for the conversion... just the adapter from the auto to the transfer case and a driveshaft to gap the club cab to single cab???

cause that would be great...
