ok guys i replaced the timing case gasket yesterday pulled the cam, pulled injection pump gear..... replaced gasket put it all together and it was pourin white smoke... its all in time.... put the double zeros on the zero and the injection pump is on the letter E... father in law told me get it a dtc and the injection pump key way at about 630..... same thing wat did i do guys??? i think it over advanced cause my common rail makes a clatterin nose just like it when its cold and i stomp on it.... idk wat to do i have tried every letter on that gear :sad: i didnt take the lines off just unbolted the pump and gear..... :x

yah, sounds like a timing issue to me... im not sure where but there was a post about how the gear teeth should mesh order wise... not sure where though :oops:

sorry man, i hope someone can help ya out...

wats the diff. between d350 and w350?

D represents 2wd and W represents 4wd.
93 W250,auto,3.54's..167k miles..asa modified intake.stans 4in,.industrial injection pump.6x.016's..S300 62/71/14..piston lift pump..And still more to come.

You have made sure that your crank to cam gear is correct with the 2 dots lining up with the single dot? Once you confirm that go back and look at your pump to cam and make sure the dot on the cam lines up with the E. I realize you said it did but just make sure. Once you have confirmed that try to advance the pump to the head and see if that helps. Those are the only things you should need to get the timing right. Dont know though I still have issues so maybe I dont have a clue. :oops:

there all right... i even pulled the key way out and moved the injection pump gear around both ways about an inch.... still doin it..... could the crank be off 360 degrees? cause it takes 2 revolutions of the crank to make 1 on the cam and injection pump.... maybe the pump is firin on the wrong stroke..... idk if thats even possible but i have been up thinkin bout this for 3 days cant figure it out.............. :sad:

I know on a gasser you can get em' 180 out and they won't start. number one is on top dead center just on the wrong stroke. I don't know if on a cummins if all those marks will line up with the engine on tdc on the exhausht stroke? It might be worth checking. Good luck.
