erradict idle?

Postby boomer » Fri Aug 29, 2008 4:10 pm

Hey guys...appreciate the help. My 1993 with intercooler started some wierd thing today.....as I sit at idle....the engine revs and then almost dies....and then stable....for a time....and so on.

When cruzing down the freeway...no problems..but in the city..its just crazy...people look at me like "Why are you reving the engine DORK!"
IM NOT! its doing it alone!

I see I have the bosh injector pump and on the side of it is a small cylindar with a tiny tube ( steel) leading to the top.

That part has a small leak....drips about 1 drop every 30 seconds.

I have no idea what that part is....I don't see it on the new parts list...but it look original. perhaps its is the culprit.

Truck has 210 K....NEVER A SINGLE problem til now. Love my truck...but hoping its not gunna bank rupt me to fix this.

Thanks man
John

that tube conects the KSB (the cool start system), to the pumps reglator, its not a big deal for it to leak abit.

have you messed with the pump yet to get anymore power?

thanks guys....I'll do the pressure test first and bleed the lines at idle....maybe its a simple thing. Before when I 've run out of fuel...I just bleed them a bit and boom....it starts....I figured the air got pushed out every time...but maybe this time...it started a problem.

but yeah...pressure first.

any advice on upgrades for the injectors if I replace them? or the pump?

At 210K, you could be getting close to needing new springs- you already have a leak; more are sure to follow. You can do them yourself, or have a shop do it. I know a good local shop back home that does springs and seals for around $500, one year warranty in most cases.
