Postby randyswelding » Sun Sep 21, 2008 8:10 pm

ok so i took out the afc pin and put the new o ring and compression washer in a few weeks ago and that stoped my leak :D .but now it has a steady drip out of the vent tube on the top of the pump :x ,what do i got to do to fix this leak again!?and how hard is it to rebuild it my self?

Sounds like you may have nicked the o-ring on installation. Pull it out and try it again, check the pin to see if it's scratched too.
You did use parts from the bosch kit, right?

Expensive? The kit is about $20 at most Bosch dealers. Cheap insurance! ;)

Sounds like an operator error  . Look inside the fuel pin bore (not the afc bore). You should see a groove or bore or 'resting place' for the green o-ring. Pin + o-ring into afc housing FIRST. Followed by what Matt and I are calling, not a washer, but an o-ring retainer. Same thing you are calling a washer. Is it shaped like an o-ring would fit in or around it? We're thinking Bosch came up with the new design, in your 92 model year pump, as Matt and I's old pumps don't have the o-ring retainer. Just pin + o-ring + 4.5mm hex nut.

When we resealed a pump top and installed 366 spring in a local females truck, a 92 or 93, it had the 'retard' as I think I called it, o-ring retainer. I could dig up a parts breakdown and find the correct name for said piece.

Once again, pin + o-ring, then retainer, then 4.5mm hex nut. Get it done!

There should be a groove in the pump top where the pin goes for the o-ring to go in. Place the o-ring in thr groove in the top then push the pin through it. That is the only component sealing fuel from getting into the afc area. If it is good and fuel still gets in you must have a cracked top or the afc pin is ground too far allowing too much travel of the pin you are working on, that will allow a fuel leak as well. Without seeing your aluminum washer I am not certain what component you are refering too.
