aftermarket water temp sender

Where is a good location on the engine to plug the sensor for an aftermarket water them gauge? I plan to keep the stock plug for the dash gauge so I'm looking for a different place on the engine better if possible.

all the ones i have seen have been in the front top side of the cylinder head

Where does the stock plug go?

It is on the driver side toward the end of the engine.

The stock ECT sensor is on the driver's side of the block...on the side, towards the rear. THe one towards the front that looks very similar is the oil pressure sending unit.

If it's not being used, you can put your temp probe there...otherwise, on the top of the thermostat housing (at least on mine) there's a threaded plug that I think would work nicely...

Why use an aftermarket temp sender? Use a ford sending unit (like the one that you took out of the orginal engine) that'll plug into your stock harness, and put it in the original location...plug and play. The threads should be the same, and if not, you can use a bushing to fix that problem.

I already have My stock water temp gauge connected and working but I like a more accurate reading and that is why I use the aftermarket gauge. I will try the one on the t-stat housing.
