Lines for Oil/ Fuel Pressure gauges

Postby Begle1 » Sun Oct 19, 2008 10:43 am

What kind of line do you guys use for in-dash oil and fuel pressure gauges?

I got a bunch of teflon line laying around that I can use with compression fittings...

Or I can spend $130 and get custom braided stainless lines made up...

What kind of line and fittings do you guys use?

Where's the best place to tap into for oil pressure, anyways? On top of the filter housing? Is there anywhere else?

Regular plastic line that comes with the guages usually, with the compression fittings.
Top of the filter housing is the easy spot, but IIRC there is another port on the left side of the block. It's on the same level as the stock sending unit.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

Alright, cool.

I got fluid-filled generic gauges from McMaster-Carr, so I didn't get any line with it... But if it's just plastic, I assume that my teflon would work.

I got some stainless line laying around, but it's a week away...

You gotta bleed the line, right?

I put a mechanical gauge in my jeep, and I didn't bleed the line. The gauge works fine.
