Is there any possible damage to letting the truck idle while the ignition is off? I mean, there is no electrical usage while the alternator is not charging while the PCM is shut off correct? I'm talking about for a '92.

None that I have encountered yet, and have noticed no issues while driving with the ignition off, well with exception of the steering wheel not wanting to turn!

3 other options, don't whomp on it, don't let off quick, or get bigger injectors. ;)

I hope my 93 is fine with my big sticks. The 89 worries me some. That truck is real close to runaway with stock sticks. :?

Big sticks are ok, the 89 will give you problems if you let off quick a lot. It's the backwash that kills the rubber tip. ;)

Jeff, 190's are smaller, but atomize better, that's why they make more power. They may not cure the chipping problem. The truck will run better and get better mileage though. ;)

So I think I just ate up my first shut off solonoid. I am bummed. I have my pump turned up a bit, and I just put in a Denny T pin and was cruisin on the freeway, and when I got off the freeway it was idling high (1000 rpm) and wouldnt shut off.. So then on the way home, i was letting off the fuel and the rpm was kinda hangin. I got home and backed out my full fuel screw. I drove it again, and its still idling around 1000.. strange..
anyone have any ideas?

It's the turned up pump that's doing it. It seems to be more of a problem on intercooled trucks, because we have tiny factory injectors. You can keep getting more solenoids while you wait to get bigger injectors, but they'll get blown too, or you can just keep using the lever on the side of the pump to shut her off until you get the injectors. I'd just use the lever, I'm cheap.

I've been running the pull cable over two years now. Never did lose a solenoid from that issue, just took it out right along with installing the BD fuel cone. The way I look at it, just one less thing to worry about.

Do you think that the idling high, and the rpms hanging a little is from the shut off plunger? or is it another problem?
