Postby Ezra » Mon Dec 22, 2008 7:26 pm

I have a s300 62/71/14..6x.016's,a piston lift-pump.brand new intercooler boots.and Im only hitting 20-25psi of boost. My pyro only goes up to 1200f..Whats the reason for low boost?

Any pump mods? If not, there you go, stock truck. If you don't have any boost leaks, a good thing to check is to see if the fuel pin is actually popping out and riding against the fuel eccentric cone. Easy things, like full throttle travel, fuel filter, boost leaks and fuel pin operation.

yah, I bet it is something simple you have overlooked, if you have the pump turned up, check to make sure you have full throttle linkage travel, goodfilter, and your fuel pin inside your afc is moving freely

Yeah...well the mechanic.told me today that I have a headgasket leak...My only question is,my truck starts first crank and doesnt blow obnoxious amounts of white smoke. Is it a head gasket? Filter is new, throttle linkage is new.etc etc.Ezra

Are you losing any oil or coolant? Or do you have any mixing between the two. If not it is most likely not a blown headgasket from what you say. low boost and no heat sounds like no fuel to me for some reason.

If it's leaking off the front corner by the thermostat housing, that's a common spot. It's a 1st gen marking it's territory thing. ;)
Just keep the coolant full and run it! :D

i had the same problem with no boost a while back. i had pulled my afc pin out to grind on it. when i put it back in, the other small pin in the pump top got stuck, so it was not fueling all the way. i just had to pull the top off and push it back out. also check the afc boost supplytube from the head to the pump top. i left mine off once and it had the same affect as when the pin got stuck.

possible turbo air inlet restriction? have you fooled with the waste gate on the turbo?

Yup, that's the spot. Alot of these trucks seep there. You won't get any in the oil from there, it's just an external leak. Some guys go and get the head milled and replace the gasket, and 2 years later it starts seeping again.
Just get a torque wrench, set it to 125 ft lbs, and hit the bolts near the corner. I did mine with a breaker bar a little, and it was enough to get it to stop.
