Injector preference

Postby MrHorsepower » Wed Jan 28, 2009 10:30 am

Hi all,
I believe this is my first post here as I have been using the PM for most questions.
I am looking to buy a set of custom built injectors for my pulling truck. I was all set to purchase from Scheid's then I came across MTM93RAMNASTY's injectors for sale for $650. So I began looking into purchasing the sticks from MTM, then he may have sold them on another forum. I went to New Era's website last night and saw the following on their website:
Dodge 12V
300's $360.00
330's $380.00
370's $425.00
435's $425.00
HOT!!! ANY SIZE OR SPECIAL SPRAY PATTERN $700.00 +$175 no cores

The Scheid's I was going to order were $1020 for the same size and spray angle.

Both are EDM, so my question is there that big of a quality difference between the two? What would you prefer?

Any other injectors you guys prefer? Why?

Thanks, when my truck is done I will list all I have done to it.

Pop

Also, what pop pressure is suggested for larger injectors? Just stay with the stock at 3550?

I'm running a set of New Era injectors. No complaints here. Make good power, don't haze much. I think Scheids are expensive because of the name. If I buy another set, I'll definetely call Chuck 1st.

Always stick with stock pop pressures. The VE doesn't like higher than stock.

The 435's are about $70 more than the 370's. I think that was a typo showing the prices the same.

I know he said his EGT's get out of hand with the 370's, so it would be worse with the 435's.

While we are on the subject of 370's...

Say I could get a set of 370 injector tips, could I put them on my stock I/C injector bodies? If so, how would one go about doing that?

I didn't pay new price for mine. ;) Would you believe 1 month old for $200? A friend of mine posted that he was selling them on the Bay, and he was going to 435's, and I bid. The only bid. I asked him if he was happy with that money, he was, and I got them.

Parker, you can, but the spray angle will be a little different. Pretty sure the New Era injectors are 1st gen tips opened up, so they have the correct pattern.

Thanks Pete, I wasn't sure if the aftermarket injectors had different tips for 1st Gens or not. Looks like I can't go the cheap way...

Pete,
Did your buddy go with New Era 435's or a different brand?
I talked to Chuck last night, he says he has no cores right now, but it will only take a week to send your cores in and have them shipped back ready to run.
I forgot ta ask him about the price of the 435's, I just copied and pasted the prices off his website.
Will I run in to any problems, as far as injectors, with this if it is a nonIC engine? The truck has an intercooler from a PS and a turbo is on order. But is there adapters for the head?

Yep, there are adapters to go from the 9mm non-ic injector bodies to the 7mm ic injector bodies. Anybody who sells injectors for a 1st gen should be able to get you a set.

That's interesting. Last time I looked at New Era's site, the 435's were $505 if I remember right. Maybe they changed their prices.

As far as I know, he ordered them right away. He needed a set of cores to send to Chuck. I went to the fuel shop and bought a set of cores to send him. I don't know how he did because he hasn't been on any boards since mid summer.
