hey guys, sorry crazy weekend. ok i checked out goerends website..... little proud of those there torque converters huh? but...... if it helps my problem its worth it. again i hope yall now by now im just stupid when it comes to this stuff, but i need a later model flexplate (what year to what year?) and a good torque converter? and cris that would be awesome but..... what sucks is that truck is how i make my living if im @ work she is with me so down time is very minimal. how long would it take for someone (good) to do these modifications? i have vacation but limited on that all of our family is out of state so most of that is taking kids to see g-ma and g-dad. good news (not that i have doubted yall) one of my good friends seen my ole girl today and said he had the exact same truck in a prior job and she had 330,000 miles on her. also he supported yall in the whole converter upgrade. he said something about a mecedes truck converter worked on his situation???? sound right (dont quote me on mecedes)

93 Welding Rig, if you have the parts ahead of time, you can replace the converter and flexplate in one long day. You will save yourself probably about $300 or $400 in labor. I didn't see if you have a 4x4 or not, but the basic process is this: chock wheels (front and rear), pull driveshaft(s), drain oil from transmission and transfer case (you don't have to drain the transfer case, but you will create a huge mess if you tilt it forward with the oil still in it), unbolt the transfer case (only if you have a 4x4), unbolt the trans. I'm not sure on the exact order, but you will need to disconnect the cooler lines, unhook the shift linkage/cables, unbolt the converter from the trans and the trans from the engine block. Remove the trans, remove the converter, unbolt the flexplate from the crankshaft. With the miles your engine has, it would be a good idea to replace the rear main seal and cam seal while you have the transmission out. Hope this helps. I had to pull the trans in my 92 when the trans went out and it was fairly straight forward (although mine is a manual trans). Get a factory service manual, it will cover all of the steps to remove and replace the convereter.

Or you can do what one of my buddies did. He rented one of those home depot trucks for like 70 bucks threw his welder on it, went back to the pipe line and picked his truck up at the end of the day from the tranny shop. That poor home depot truck got a work out that day. It got stuck on the line and they had to drag it like 1/2 mile with the dozer back out. He had some pretty funny pictures.
