Governer springs?

Postby DoWhat? » Sat Feb 28, 2009 10:03 pm

Governer springs have me confused. I know the 366 (3600 rpm iirc) spring is by far the favorite, but what about the 4200rpm spring? I've heard that it doesn't actually give you the rpm because of its lenght?

Is the 4200 spring a direct, drop in, for the ve pump? If not what do I have to trim or shim to get the max rpms out of this thing?

The 366 spring allows the pump to fuel to 3200 RPM, not 3600.

I don't see a point in putting the 4200 RPM spring in, as the 366 spring will allow the VE to rev as high as you need it to.

Is your truck a daily driver, or just a toy?

Its a pulling truck. I'm still getting the chassis squared away, but I will be removing the afc lever and swapping springs. Just trying to hold myself over for a little while, my checkbook needs to recover a bit form the purchase of the truck, double disc clutch, springs, tires, ect, before I can swap for a 5k gsk p-pump.

I need all the rpms that this pump has to offer, its all about wheelspeed brother ;-)

Well, a pulling truck makes a difference. I know the spring is not a direct "bolt on" because you have to trim it a little bit t fit, but it shouldn't be hard at all. I think I read something about a spring that is one step above the 4200RPM spring, but of course, I read it on the internet. (DTR...)
