Custom VE Pump Mods

Postby sdubfid » Wed Jan 14, 2009 1:17 am

I would like this post to be about custom ve pump mods.

I just registered today but have done a lot of searching. There was a user named ford******* who was experiment with custom dv's, porting, enlarging transfer slots, feed pressures, shaft seals etc etc.

I can't get ahold of him.

Does anybody have any updates on these projects?

1. pump porting
2. Inlet enlarging
3. custom military dv's
4. high pressure seals
5. custom internal machining?
6. internal timing advance mods

Anyone know what happened to that Ford fellow? I haven't heard anything from him in a while.

Hey Aaron
welcome back
We had a good year last year but never really got anything concrete done
This year we be going after the Prostreet points chase here in Ontario
So I havnt got any further than when we used to chat a year ago than to switch to a single charger to meet class rules
Have three pumps on the bench and a bunch of new pieces so I guess its time to R&D a pump
I'd still be interested in anything youd like to colaborate on
pm me

Not 100% sure, but I think Brad Ponci from Ponci's Diesel Center has done those types of mods before.....

Hey Aaron

Nope been building my new house since last June, evenings and weekends and havnt had a moment to "further" R&D along - but I have some ideas in the "works" lol

House is almost done, just need garage doors on and then i can start on the truck again

You betcha I am still runnin the Ford - the camper special 1 ton have one hell of a chassis stock and it doesnt take much to make one competitive pullin.

Yes, Bill Gilbert made some impressive hp lately and i hope to at least equal his efforts this summer - cuz that would make me very competitve in my class at some 520 hp, and I have most of his single turbo setup on my truck now, turbo and all.

As i keep repeatin - I will take any and all help, ideas, colaboration....
I have three pumps to play with, several springs, including the VW model, as well as the VW advance mechanism, 14mm head, etc etc etc and a new Schied cover and external timing tabs so IP pump interchange will be very easy for R&D

Time will tell

Thought you had to have a regular cab? Got sick of waiting already? :P

Hope you get the truck home soon.

seeker1056: I have been reading a bit on www.vwdiesel.net and they turn some nice rpms with those pumps. Are you going to try and setup the vw governer on the 6cyl pump?

I beleive I have mentioned Giles in Ontario. Known as the high performance vw pump guy. www.dieselperformance.ca He doesn't let too many secrets out but may have some input if you get ahold of him.
