Got The S300... Now I need to hook it up, Got some questions

Postby RSWORDS » Wed Mar 04, 2009 5:00 pm

I'm gonna start by saying on on some pretty good pain killers so bear with me...

Well My Parts collecting is coming along... Now I just need to do the Parts installing part.

Got my WALBRO 392

Got My Air-to-Water Aftercooler

And I got my 62/74/14 Silver Bullet S300

I have a 2nd Gen HX40 downpipe on the way for it.

What adaptor do I need for the compressor outlet? I have a custom cross over pipe made out of exhaust tubing so I just need something to use a vband clamp that I can put a sylicone boot on. The Air-to-Water is going over were the battery is now (as soon as I find a spot for it). What adaptors do I need and were can I get them? Here is my cirrent setup. I would like to keep with something like this for the short term till I get the a2w inplace.

Thanks!

After looking at the pics, I feel like I'm on painkillers! :o

It's hard to tell from the pic, how big is the cooler? 3" inlet and outlet? It looks restrictive, and the air having to go 180* in there won't help either.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

It depends on what the turbo is supposed to fit as to what v band piece you will need. the one i used on my non ic truck with a s300 was from a 2001 frieghtliner medium duty bus chassis and it worked great. as for the hoses and clams along with alot of other cool stff got to www.racepartsoulutions.com. hope this helps

Yeah its 3" I dont see it being anymore restrictive then the factory Air-to0Water that KTA made over 600HP with. It's rated for over 1000CFM so we will see. A few others are running them and have been very happy. I refuse to cut up my grill to mount an intercooler.

I saw a pic of a rig that had that cooler and he moved the washer fluid bottle and mounted it there. He came out of the turbo and a straight shot into the cooler then built a crossover from the cooler to the intake. Looked like the easyiest way to mount.

I played hell getting a elbow for my s300. I needed the 3 inch outlet to match my powerstroke cooler. I ended up getting a 70 ish degree elbow and made it work. I really wanted a 90 degree 3 inch but it works fine. Also took a week to get the oil supply adapter for the s300. My baby H1C had the oil feed directly screwed into it. The s300 takes the adapter like the later trucks have. The first one they sent was mispicked and did not work. Its frustrating some times. I ordered gauges and they sent me all black face gauges like I wanted but sent me a white face fuel pressure gauge. Had to send for the correct color. I hooked up my tach and that was frigged up so I sent that in and got another one.  Sometimes these trucks just wanna fight back.

Damn it's hard to read these threads when they're stretched across the screen. I've got the oil inlet adaptors, and elbows in stock. I believe at least a couple of them are 3", with varying angles. I'll look if you need one.

I bugged my local cummins shop and he got me what I needed.
I wanted used stuff but there are no good commercial junk yards anywhere close. I got tired of friggen around and ordered new.

Thanks Bill. Let me know what you have and I might get a couple from you. Not sure exactly what I'm gonna do yet.

PM me your mailing address again, I'll send you a couple of them to try out. I have one from a 2nd gen 12 valve. It's got a longer than 90* radius and is 3". Another that is 3" and short radius 90*. The other one I have is 3.5" and greater than a 90* radius. You probly wouldn't want it. If one will work, want to trade for those stock injectors I owe you? 8) :D
