DPP exhaust manifold

Postby CAROLINA CUMMINS » Sun Mar 15, 2009 12:19 am

Hey guys,

Anyone running DPP's budget 3 piece exhaust manifold?? At least $100 cheaper than the competitors manifolds 8) I have searched everywhere for reviews; good or bad and I cannot find anyone that's mentioned it. I may have to be the guinea pig

Also DPP has a 5% TDR member discount.

That looks like a pretty good value to me. My ATS came only with bolts and washers, so not that big a deal. You should be able to get the gaskets from Cummins for less.

Yeah, it says that it does not come with gaskets. It's another $25 with the gaskets, no mention of bolts. I emailed them and asked about that. No reply as of yet. Just wondering how the flow is compared to the ATS, HTT, BD manifolds??

HTT and BD are the same manifold. ATS flows better by about 9 cfm, IIRC.
Mine came with gaskets, bolts, tapped for the heater tubes and pyro.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

I'll have to respectfully disagree, how come ALL the class 8 stuff I work on every day has 3 piece exhaust manifolds? They use them for a reason!

Thanks for the replies guys, I got an email from them and they do come with bolts. Not sure why the lack of reviews/feedback on these. First time I have seen them, maybe they haven't been on the market long? I searched here, TDR, and DTR and came up with zilch.

For once I agree with CK. I also agree with kta. I only feel the need for an ats manifold or the like is when your manifold is shrunk to the point it's about to break one of the ears off your cylinder head. Or if it's cracked somewhere.

At that time, if I were to do it again, I'd go to the junkyard or scour the classifieds for a good USED stock manifold and port the crap out of it. I can't wipe my a$$ enough with the ats manifold I have on my 89. All the time I've spent on it with various problems and issues I just don't care to type about it anymore.

I got a reply back from Bryan Howell of DPP today. He said that the manifold is basically just a "cheap" version of the big name brands. The function may still be there, but that it wasn't quite as nice as a ATS or BD etc... but still better than stock.

I think I will give one of these a try here pretty soon, unless I run across a really good deal on another brand.
