More fuel system questions

Postby GO OVRIT » Wed Mar 18, 2009 7:10 pm

First one is on the return from my regulator. I've got a 13204 aeromotive reg. and an a-1000. What size line should I run for the return? I'm leaving the IP and injector return seperate and stock.

Second is for the hose from the pump to the filter and the filter to the reg. I used 5/8". I know there's no benefit, I just want to know if it will harm anything. I ran it because I already had it and the fittings. The tank to the pump is 3/8" as well as from the reg to the ip.

I have the same pump and regulator. I have 3/4" (-12an) from the tank to the a1000. 5/8" (-10an) from a1000 to filter head, as well as filter head to regulator. 3/8" (-6an) from regulator to injection pump. 1/2" (-8an) from regulator bypass back to tank. IP and injector return stock as well.

Number one, you need to redo the tank to a1000 hose. Aeromotive recommends no less than -10an, 5/8". I wouldn't worry about the outlet hose sizes, but the supply hose size is important. You didn't read the directions?  You won't harm anything running 3/8" hose out of the a1000 and within the entire system, but you need 5/8" supply. I think it might also recommend 1/2" return hose size.

I too, ran lines according to fitting sizes already in the pump and regulator. A1000 has -10an in/out. That regulator has -6an dual outlets, -10an inlet, -8an return. The boost referenced fitting is 1/16" pipe thread in case you didn't already know.

I guess you're my directions :) ....got it used. I had done a draw straw type of pick up and the smallest section was less than 3/8" which is why I had 3/8 hose. So how does the bulkhead in the bottom of the tank do driving around?

You might ask kta what size pickup he has with this a1000. He's run that pump much longer than me. Might save you some time switching things over.

There's always a potential problem having a bulkhead fitting in the bottom of the tank. That said, my daily driver, an almost lowered D250 2wd, has a 1/2" bulkhead in the bottom of the tank and has been all over the midwest and lots of city driving with no issues. Been lucky I'm sure. The 4wd sits much higher and has a huge 3/4" bulkhead with another huge 90* hydraulic fitting hanging off it, no problems or leaks to this point, (couple years).
