Any ideas?

Ok guys, one more problem to add to the list.I got the truck back from HCD today, test drove it before I left.Everything's good.Made it about 50 miles.and the engine started poping/loping.Then lost almost all power wont go over 30mph and a constant cloud of black smoke behind me.I got forced air and blue exhaust smoke and a flame coming out of the intake horn. What the heck would cause this? A flame coming out of the intake? Sounds kinda cool.

Turbo blew a seal I'd think. And then got hot and ignited the oil.

Think it blew a seal on a brand new turbo? with only 28lbs of boost?

There's not too many ways to get flammable stuff in the intake.

easy way to check the turbo , just pop off the intake and see if it spins freely .

is it possible you over filled the engine with oil , and it's coming back through the breather into the intake ? ( i'm assuming the engine isn't vented to the atomsphere ) .

is it intercooled ? is it possible the intercooler colected small amounts of oil till it finally was enough to cause you problems ?

after rereading the thread ... the flame , was it coming from the engine side of the manifold , or the turbo side ?

if it was the engine side , you have some sort of timing / valve issues

A new seal would be more likely to blow out than one with a hundred thousand miles or so, if there was something defective with the seal to begin with.

If something's going to fail prematurely, it's probably gonna go within the first few thousand miles.

Pull the intake hose off and see what's inside. A bunch of oil I'd imagine.

None of us have a breather into the intake, do we?

I had just got it back from getting a head gasket and headstuds. When I popped the intake off the turbo was spinning freely. The flame was coming out of the intake horn, along with alot of forced air .I was thinking valve problem??

Could you be a little more clear about when you had fire out of the intake horn. Engine shut off, at idle, under water? ;-)

I seen fire coming out of the intake horn after I popped the intercooler boot off,and gave it alittle throttle.Yes the valve's were adjusted after the headgasket and studs.

Ok....Turned out to be the push-rod broke on the exhaust valve.
