Ultimate truck build what would you do?

Postby redneckroot » Thu Jun 18, 2009 8:37 pm

If you had the money to buy a new truck what trucks/parts would you combine in a factory built truck?

I would want a 70's power wagon because I like the grills but in a full size 4 door
nv4500 tranny with a double disk clutch
cummins motor probably a cr with 550 hp out of the box
straight front axle with leaf springs for simplicity and longevity
very rigid built frame
lockers front and rear
2 speed rear end for economy
front and rear axles that can handle 1,000hp reliably
lockout hubs
4x4
35" tires
1990 Restored with a bit of aftermarket goodies might be for sale?
1993 ex. cab 2wd soon to be 4wd Newest Project
1998 ex. cab 12v 4x4 now a 5 speed SOLD

i would either completely rebuild a 1st gen, or go find a low mile high dollar truck, something as close to new and stock as i could find. give it a dead realiable, towable 300-350hp and call it a day. as long as it had a manual trans i wouldnt be too picky, although a crew dually would be at the top of my list. if i could find a nice cab that wasnt clear across the country, id convert my 92 to a 4 door.

Man, you guys dream big!

I'd just be happy with a 1st gen club cab 4x4 that's not too rusty. Although a crew would be really nice, I'm not gonna push my luck!

I'm thinking a crew cab dually with first gen power of course. Twins, big intercooler, a six speed, and dana 80 with 3.55 and a limited slip, all setup to tow heavy. Nice seats for comfort, thumping stereo, cold A/C, even for the rear seats and enough rear wheel hp to put any common rail, duramax, or even Peterbilt to shame on the hills towing my trailer.

Now to haul on the trailer, a 90 with 40" swampers, setup for offroad duty, or a first gen puller, that will run with the p-pump boys.

1993 W250, 3.55, NV5600 , Con O, bosch 185's, 4" exhaust, Super 40, pump tweaks, ground pin, Smokehouse air intake, Hamilton Cam,
1985 D350, Crew Cab, 92 cummins and a 518. 47rh to be built and installed along with 3.55 LS Dana 80

One that I wouldn't have to pay for, and would be built exactly the way I would build it without having to build it. And it'd have a girl inside, and a cream soda.

triple turbo's in a 2 stage setup (yes it has been done and is still in a daily driven street truck 8) )

triple disk clutch
tandem rear 37 spline 10 lug Dana 80's with a selectable power divider
front factory beam axle
