Actually, you are making the brake system the way it was designed back in the 60s or 70s. They only thing different about the ABS trucks and the (lucky) non-ABS trucks is the accumulator/ hydraulic doo-hickey (more technical terms) in the ABS trucks. All the other hardware is the same from the master back to the wheel cylinders. Will you lock the brakes unloaded? Possibly, definitely on gravel or wet pavement. Will it stop sooner and save your rotors and pads on the front? For sure.
