Sounds about right for the stock lift pump. Stock should be about 3-5psi at idle, and with your mods, I'm sure you can easily pull it down to 0psi. Time for a piston lift pump. :D

A stock LP should be 5-7 at idle, not less than 3psi at WOT. That's stock, of course. With your mods what you have is probably darn good!

Rich, time for a draw straw and bigger lines! ;)

I drew my 93 down to 0 with the stock diaphram pump and the truck ran great. It is not good for the injection pump. That is why I upgraded. Some will run crappy when down to 0 psi. It retards the timing also when the case pressure gets low in the injection pump. So don't do it. :D

That's not a 2nd gen pump. It's an Ag application pump, low pressure. A 2nd gen pump puts out 25 -30 psi, which our IP's won't take.
You need the pump, spacer, line and 2 gaskets. You may also need to trim the insulation on the tappet cover with a utility knife for the line to clear. Upgrading to a draw straw is a good idea, but may not be necessary. Just change the pump and watch the pressure. Richie has stock lines and does ok with them.

Postby MMeier » Sat Oct 10, 2009 7:45 pm

... where are you guys plumbing in a fuel pressure gauge ? I see this small plug on a banjo above the filter head, is that where you put it... alot smaller then 1/8 NPT, what size is that ?
