strange noise

Try taking the belt off and see if the noise goes away. This will give a starting point. Weather it's belt driven or engine related. Also look real close at the fan blades where the connect to the hub. Seen a couple of fan blades cracked there.
93 W250. Waiting on EFI live to come out with a ve version.

Well, I think I fixed it. I went to take the belt off and then seen it was loose, so I tightened it and that seems to have fixed it. Even though I could not find any marks on the belt or the fan blades. So far so good! Thanks for all the ideas everyone.
