Power Upgrades

Postby carlosrivero71 » Thu Oct 22, 2009 3:33 pm

Apologies for posting to multiple forums, but as they say "knowledge is power" and power is why we're all here.

I have a 91.5 intercooled CTD automatic in a 93 chevy 1500. Current mods: MasterPower turbo (don't know the sizes), BHAF, open 4" exhaust (straight back),
and ground fuel pin, starwheel turned down all the way. Lots of smoke once I hit the go pedal. Some go, but not much - EGTs goin' up real fast tho.
Only get about 8psi of boost. Lot's of white smoke at idle.

Anyway, recently resurrected the project after a 3 year hiatus (translated: divorce and custody battle) and want to give her (the truck) some Christmas presents.

This is what I'm thinking:

KDP kit
3200 Spring
Fuel Pin (Denny T is looking really good right now) - any suggestions
Water/Methanol Injection (Snow Performance???)
Propane Injection - suggestions/advice???
Replumb the air intake and intercooler pipes (it's a mess right now)

Any comments or suggestions?

High egt's and low boost sounds like a boost leak to me. Any how, the master turbo is not the greatest. I thought about buying one but asked around and changed my mind.

Better figure out what is wrong before you put any more fuel to it. Check the IC and tubes real close for leaks.
Have you done anything with the timing? White smoke, high EGT's, could be the timing is retarded some.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

Master power turbos are kinda crap. I normally wouldnt say this but a hx40 is better lol. 8psi will cause some high egt and tons of smoke so I would say ya got a serious boost leak

Thanks guys. I figured the turbo was crap, not to mention the quality craftsmanship of the work done on the air plumbing and exhaust. I'll post some pics so you guys can take a look.
