Timing on IP advance??

Postby SmokeScreen » Sun Oct 25, 2009 11:55 am

How much timing does it give it when you bump it up 1/8" or 3/16" etc...???
Don't really want to do it unless i know??

It will give you anywhere from .2-.8mm advance.

It depends on where you are starting (timing deg vs plunger lift is not a linear relationship), wear on internal parts, pump set up, etc. But, I'd think you'd be safe with 1/16", and see how it runs for a tank or two. If you like it, leave it. If you want more, go farther.

I dont think you would have any reliability issues with stock or near stock fuelling.

I moved mine 1/8th and it was at 1.65mm of lift. I don't know where it was before  I didn't have a guage then. I then moved it another 1/8th and it was at 2.1mm. At 2.1 it clattered some. I ran it most of the summer like that and turned it back to 1.65 before I went to SOP. I didn't really want to blow a head gasket 5 or 600 miles from home. ;-)

when you say stock fueling or near stock, what do you mean exactly

I have 60 over injectors from industrial injection, and 1/2" fuel lines and a lift pump and my VE is turn almost all the way up

Stock means the fuel screw where it used to be, and stock injectors. ;)

If im correct when the truck is cold 12v of power is supplied to the wire at the bottom of the pump. That is supposed to give it more timing 5* i think. Now if I wire it up to a switch then I will be able to turn it on and off at will cold or not right?? That sould give me some bump up, but not too much

7 degrees. It works too. I unplugged it on the dyno and lost 30 hp in an instant! Don't leave it on all the time, it increases case pressure too.
