It makes the knock thoughout any RPM, I was doing a burnout the other day and it was really noticeable off the governor.

get a laser temp gun and see how close of temp each exhaust port is. sounds like you have an injetor sprayin into the side of the cylinder no into the proper area causeing the pistion to ting... like a gasser with crappy fuel

After reading all the posts I do agree with Mark Nixon its just like a gasser with a loose wrist pin or loose rod bearing when you change the firing (injector on a diesel or plug wire on a gas) it normaly goes away or gets considerably less . just my thought. I heard the samething on a diesel 560 IH

x2 on the wrist pin. i have had 4 s60 driptroits and 2 isx's that have the same problem and in all cases it was the wrist pin. of course working for a trucking company who is trying to save every dollar says to let it go, then the truck comes in on a wrecker with the #6 rod sticking through the block. then all you can say is i told you so

Ya i was also thinking the wrist pin. I'll have the head off in the spring so i'll take #6 out and take a look at it then. Maybe it'll give me an excuse to pull out the engine and get it balanced and blueprinted.

Do your self a favor. Swap the #6 injector with another one to make sure it's the hole and not the injector.
I saw a Cat D4 once that knocked like a SOB and you'd swear the rods were coming out the side at any minute. Turns out the injectors were dirty from sitting or something, when we started to run it hard, within an hour it had cleaned up and ran like a dream.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.
