VE Pump Problems

Postby dakota farmer » Sat Nov 14, 2009 6:25 pm

Hey Guys, In the last week I have turned the fuel screw a couple of times, and I have also put in a denny T fuel pin. Noticed a little more power from these two. Today i put in a 3200 Spring. I believe I had a decrease in power now after installing the spring. Before it would pull pretty hard all the way to 77 mph, after i put the spring in it would only go around 65-70. I was just curious if you guys can help me out and try to help me figure out what I screwed up or explain what is going on. Correct me if I am wrong but the spring is suppose to add more fuel at higher rpms correct? Thanks guys!!

Are you getting full throw on the throttle lever? Have somebody floor the pedal and see if the lever on the pump is against the stop. You may have misadjusted something when you put it together. The other thing is the lever may be indexed to the shaft off 1 notch.
Most people remove the stop to get more throw too. Just a FYI. ;)

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

I went ahead and readjusted my throttle position and advanced it one notch and then when I started it up again it was revving a lot higher. Does that mean Imy initial setting was correct? And does that mean that the gov sprng it too tight when I readjusted it.

Are all ve pumps from the factory set on the same throttle setting.....meaning can i look at another pump to make sure if I am on the right "notch" Hope this isn't too confusing. Thanks again for the help.

one notch to where it was revving higher is probally where it needs to be .
you just need to turn the idle screw down now .

you also need to make sure the high speed adjustment screw is backed all the way out .

also make sure that when the gas pedal it pushed all the way to the floor , that the throtle lever is wide open as well .

Ya just back the throttle screw off and take it for another cruise. Also the throttle arm should touch or almost touch the pump case at WOT. If it doesnt then back off the high idle stop and adjust your linkage.

I took your guy's advice and got the pump reset to where it should be. I appreciate all the help and am very impressed with the power. Injector's next......or Turbo? Thanks again for the quick responses.
