Bit of a knock?

Postby chuey » Sun Dec 13, 2009 8:07 pm

I recently purchased an '89 ram 250 w/1st gen cummins. The truck has a bit of knock at an idle but it goes away after about 2000 rpm. Truck doesn't shake or do anything crazy as it accelerates but the knock at idle makes me a little nervous. Any ideas on what it may be???

Maybe try to crack each injector line to see if the knock goes away when the cyl stops getting fuel. What else could he do boys?

Do you know what your actual idling rpms are (got a tach)?

What's the oil pressure gauge reading when at idle and up to 2000?

Is this a manual or automatic transmission?

No tach and oil pressure stays at 65#s. Highest I've ever seen was
85#s on a cold mornin.
