I will bet a crusty set of N/IC injectors that over 90% of the trucks on this forum have cracked heads... ;-)

The 286210 piston is the stock piece for the non I/C engines, but since it has a near Marine style bowl, I do not think near stock timing and a 145° pattern suited it well. As far as the DT466 injectors are concerned, the up side is not a large hone size, that can be done with a standard VCO nozzle. The benefit is the larger body itself, and the large Sac volume nozzle.

Not well suited? So what are you tryin to say, that everybody with a N/IC truck that wants to upgrade injectors should get 155 degree four holers? Mine runs awesome with 190's (145 degree?) and stock timing. Also makes mathematical sence to me that anyone with 145 degree injectors and N/IC pistons could benefit from a slight timing bump?

The reason most go with a 145° injector and a large bowl piston is to run higher static timing, if you have the large bowl piston and tighten the pattern 10°, you have also narrowed the quench area. It may work well for some, it all depends on the application. There are quite a few 155° nozzles you can use, not just the 4-hole 9mm. I have never had a set of 190's to cross reference, I will look into it.

It would be nice to know something about the bosch mystery injectors!

If you look at the injector sticky you will see there are 2 diffrent 370hp bosch injectors and they are 155deg as well. As for a 286210 piston NONE of these engines were ever built with one. The Non intercooled piston for the 89-early 91's is a 3907163, and it is serviced as a 3802160 which is a piston and rings package. I am sure that number you list is for some aftermarket knockoff piston, but you should probably use the correct cummins part number so if people wanted to go down to the dealer and buy one they could.

That is the Mahle PN# for the standard non I/C piston, not sure I would call them "knock offs". If someone wanted the numbers, I have them for either the piston or kit with rings in standard bore, +0.020", and +0.040".

Mahle is a well known aftermarket manufacturer and even a OEM supplier. I think I would have to refer to them as "knock offs" since they are not the same. There are minor dimensional diffrences in them. I was just out in the shop and was comparing some pistons and had a cummins 89 piston (CDC) and a Mahle "industrial". I noticed there to be several diffrences around the pin bores and in the skirts. If you would like to make a post with the Piston info for the diffrent applications I can look up the cummins numbers and we can make a sticky to provide users with a good resource.
