Postby RumbleFish » Wed Jan 06, 2010 3:22 pm

so its time for a filter. which one do i want? i know there are several that i can use. long, short, with sensor, without, etc...

fwiw, i dont know if the WIF even works, ive never seen the light come on during the 'test'. im not opposed to doing away with it. any help, especially part #'s, is appreciated.

Don't you listen at SOP? FS1221 or equivalent is the longer filter with drain and no provision for WIF sensor. FS1232 is stock IIRC.

He doesn't listen at all. Must be you weren't paying attention either.

I have a FS19773 on mine. It fits a new backhoe, I think it's a finer micron, but I can't find out from the Fleetguard site. It's a long one and has the water drain too.

That FS19773 crosses to a Wix part# with a 14um rating. They are usually pretty good about supporting OEM spec and accurate cross-reference, but I don't trust them after they changed the rating on the one I was using as my secondary at some point in the past year or so.

Just something to think about....

What's the micron of the FS1221? I kinda thought it was 10?

The 1221 crosses to the same 33472 Wix. The stock filter is supposed to be a 10um nominal filter.

This is why I switched over to the true Racors last summer. Filter ratings have gotten confusing and I don't trust even the big-name manufacturers like Fleetguard, Baldwin and Wix to reliably support the OEM specs anymore, especially after what happened to all the commonrail injectors over the past few years.

I don't really know what's going on, but I suspect alot of the manufacturing has moved overseas with a corresponding drop in quality control. I also suspect Wix for one, may have simply de-rated alot of their filters for that reason with no regard for the users who did not know what they were getting.

Ok, thanks. So the one I am running is actually larger (allegedly) than the stocker, that sucks! I guess it's time to swap it back, or find a finer one..
