missing tps? I think?

Postby markjmcdonald » Sat Jan 09, 2010 2:38 pm

I recently purchased a 93 w250 xcab and am trying to get it back on the road. the previous owner, rest his soul was not mechanicly inclined or sane. although i paid next to nothing for the girl, i fear it will cost me thousands to get it right. i am new to the cummins in a dodge and am slowly piecing this piece together. the truck is an automatic and with the help of pictures and advice from other questions in 1stgen.org I am missing my tps and bracket. Dont no where it went to because previous owner shot himself and i no nothing of vehicle history. the truck is stock and i am slowly finding out what is wrong with it. the dodge dealer is of little help. they say they can get it but dont know if the bracket comes with the throttle position sensor. the price is also very salty which doesn't suprise me. I need help from u guys. I have wires hanging that dont plug in any where on the drivers side of engine and dont no what is missing. any one have a link to engine componet and locations? Any one have any Idea where I can get a tps and bracket assy. at a reasonable price? The truck will not shift to overdrive and am I hope this is the problem. i would appreciate any help or advice. I would like for the truck to be correct and would love to share the passion everyone has for these trucks. right now i feel the frustration!

Install a toggle switch and manually engage it.

A good place to start would be to get a Factory Service Manual for your truck: http://www.genosgarage.com/prodinfo.asp?number=DFSM93_PRINT. Geno's also has the 93 manual on CD. You can also find the manuals on Ebay. The FSM has all of the wiring diagrams for the truck and should help you get started figuring out where the wires go.

Another option is installing a pressure switch in the transmission to replace the TPS.

I decided to take cougar's advice and install the ac pressure switch to fix my missing tps and hopefully regain overdrive. I had to order the ac pressure switch and am ready to install it. I am not sure which wire is the od solenoid ground and do not want to hack into wires that I don't need to. I can't afford a factory service manual right now and am asking for help again. Any one know which wire the overdrive solenoid ground is ? Also the link stated to tie into the wire and I was wondering if the od disable buttton on the dash would be affected? Do I need to disconnect it? Will it still work? Do I need to cut the wire and solder to it or just skin the insulation and then solder to it? I would appreciate any advice for I do not want to cause any more problems than I already have. Thank You!

There are two wires, one is dark blue. That is the power wire. The red/ light green wire is the ground. Hope that helps.
