Need Cummins Part Number for the turbo to downpipe clamp

Postby Bschwarzli » Mon Jan 11, 2010 11:10 am

Looking for the Cummins down pipe to turbo band clamp part number for the 1990. I seem to be leaking there now that I have the new exhaust in and I am going to assume the clamp is toast after 20 years! ;)

Found the Mopar PN of 4428550 but they want like $55 for it! Yikes!

IS there a Cummins PN for the same part?

Thanks!

If it helps, Motor Serial - 44411716

Better look at your pipe very closely, it's possible the ridge that the clamp compresses has a crack in it somewhere.

I have seen the down pipes crack before, usually from a bad or missing hanger. I havent seen a clamp leak though.

Mark,

All is OK. Brand new Stans Headers downpipe and it looked good. My issue was I reused the clamp and I am gathering that is a no no.

Then many of us need our hands slapped, because it's done all the time.

I usually just carefully close up the 'v' area of the clamp with a pair of wide jaw visegrips, or a smooth jaw vise will work.
Don't go hog wild on how FAR you close up the gap, just do it uniformly and it works fine.
