cam bearings

Postby GO OVRIT » Mon Jan 18, 2010 7:19 pm

I just pulled down 2 24v "53" blocks and the first cam bearing in both is showing all copper. They're both smooth, just no silver color at all. All the rods and mains look perfect. Is this a common in cummins.

Yes the cam bearing is copper colored to begin with, well the cummins one is anyway, I have seen a aftermarket federal mogul one that was silver.

Ok, so the only bearing is right at the front? I hadn't even looked that close at the other journals other than noticing that they weren't copper colored. I've put together a bunch of gas engines but never seen any bearings that weren't worn out show copper.
