I'd pass on the junkyard gears- they are just as old, and likely cracked. Your best bet would be to get some upgraded aftermarket gears from Southern Electronics. I think they even included instructions, but I also read a very detailed write up on one of these sites about doing it. I did the change on my 90. The gears cost $50 or so for both (and you will eventually need both, also need to know how many teeth they have), but I think it is a small price to pay for keeping accurate track of MPGs, maintenance intervals, etc.
