Did Some Repainting

Postby FRadisi » Sun Mar 28, 2010 2:29 pm

I got tired of looking at the chipped paint on the grill inserts and headlight doors so I took the grill apart and repainted them. It actually turned out a lot better than I thought it would! These are cellphone pics since I loaned my digital camera to a friend for the weekend, so when I get it back I will take some better pics.

The headlight doors got painted with a semi-gloss gray...

That's not bad. I painted my head light thingers flat black. Matches the grill better. ;)

That's what I wanted to do but I didn't want to mess with the headlight reflectivity off the door (that's what they're called, not thingers  ). I'm thinking about later on color matching the grill shell to the body but I need to decide what I'm going to do with the paint first. I would really love to do a 2-tone with the new fourth gen colors, paint the grill shell to match the main color and paint the bumper I will be putting on to match the secondary color.

I love that color combo for some reason.

Mine were black to begin with. I wonder how much reflection they contribute?

Oh, and when I was growing up, headlight doors were the things that closed and covered the headlights on my '68 Charger. ;)
