how to replace oil pan gasket???

My 89 has an oil leak & my hanynes book doesnt say hoe to change the oil pan plz help.

I don't know what the crossmember looks like on a d250 but o a w250 it's quite a job. If it's not leaking enough to drip, fuhgettabouditt. Try re-torquing the pan bolts and cross your fingers.
On my w250 I had to unbolt the engine mounts, jack the engine as high as I could, unbolt the crossmember and drop it as low as possible.
That gave me enough room to drop the pan a couple inches, barely enough room to reach in and unbolt the oil pickup tube then slide the pan out.
Very difficult on re-assembly, especially when everything needs to be CLEAN!

On the D it's even worse, no place to drop the pan to. You can probably do it in chassis, but I bet it's faster to pull the engine out.
Look real close and make sure where the leak is from. The timing case may be loose and leaking from there.

Oh, use the Haynes manual to soak up the oil in the drive way and get yourself a good Factory Service Manual. They are around $100 give or take most places. I got mine from Geno's Garage.

x3. Hayne's has never been helpful to me in any of my vehicles. FSM was the best $100 I've ever spent on my truck and makes pretty easy work of everything I have had to repair.

For all the effort, I'd be more likely to yank the whole thing and re-seal the pan that way.
Think of it this way, you have the thing half way out anyway when you lift or jack it up, what's a couple lines, an exhaust clamp, a few bellhousing bolts and some wires?
And a hood?

An hour more?

Exactly, I'll be pulling the motor out to do my gasket as well. The block is also going to be painted and some leaks will be fixed

To the OP, if you have any other repairs/maintenance/leaks to fix... go ahead and pull the motor, you'll be glad you did.
