Some Questions

Postby FRadisi » Thu Apr 22, 2010 3:39 pm

I have two (that I know of) fuel leaks on my motor. One is coming from the transfer pump, which I guess I just need to replace the gasket, and the one I'm trying to pinpoint is coming from the back side of the injector pump. I'm not sure if it's coming out of the block or maybe the gasket between the timing case and pump needs to be replaced. Does anyone know if fuel would be leaking out of the plate on the block behind the pump?

Also is the drain on my fuel filter supposed to be damp all the time? I don't see fuel dripping from it but it's definitely not dry.

Where can I get the extender for the oil fill tube?

I'm sure I have more questions but that's all I can think of right now.

#1, if the transfer pump is leaking fuel externally it may be going in the base too. Better get that changed quick.

#2, fuel can't come out of the block. Anyplace. There is a cover on the back of the IP opposite the KSB solenoid that can leak. Unfortunately, you must remove the pump to fix it.

#3, if it's wet on the bottom of the drain, it's seeping some. Maybe remove the drain, open it and clean it with brake cleaner and then try it. If it's seeping now, it will get worse and give you problems later.

#4, no idea on that one, post a wanted ad on here?

Franco if you end up having to pull the pump let me know if you need help. I can take the 4-banger down there and help you out. I'm pretty sure I've gotten it down to a science.

Mark you don't have an oil cap anywhere do you?

Will do Chris, but I'll be doing it when I pull the motor out for the oil pan.

Heck that takes away half of the PITA right there. Could probably have it off in 40 minutes.
