Strange electrical problem (needs wiring diagram)

Postby Fred_M1010 » Sun Sep 05, 2010 1:45 pm

Does anyone know where to find a wiring diagram online?
Or if not, where to buy one (I guess Chilton and Haynes is out of the question :? )

Or maybe someone recognizes my problem...?

Sometimes my temp gauge starts to strike back and forth.
At the same time my overdrive disengages (like if I switch off the overdrive switch), and my stereo dies

My truck does the exact same thing. My Wait to start light flashes and my OD disengages, along with the guages twitching. I have looked everywhere and added 3 extra grounds, and no luck. When you figure yours out, help me!

Ahh the joys of intermittent connections...

This is just an educated guess but I would start at the fuse box. In the 1st gens. IIRC there are 3 leads that come into it and all the fused circuits come off of those. It sounds to me like one of those 3 connections is not making contact 100% of the time.

Thanks, I think you're right.
It stopped when I jiggled the fuse box some :D
Now I just have to find out which lead it is, so I can fix it properly :?

Thanks, but I can't make out much of these diagrams.
The resolution is too low, I can't make out the text :(

It was a poorly grounded core support

And now I've found the wiring diagrams as well.
They where right here on the forum, I just had to search.
