Have you looked into any of the VGT turbos? They have some BIG sizes that I think our motors could light off because of the variable exhaust housing.

Fleece was/is working on one that was going to be released in March, I got tired of waiting for it and just use boost to actuate mine, I have been told drive pressure would be a better way to go.

I would think you could look at the head and poke it up the water/oil holes with a thin wire to see, or call ZZ and ask them, tell them you plan on buying a manifold from them or whatever. Most places are very willing to share some information like that.

On mine Im using a waste gate actuator I took the electronics off made a slider so I can hook up an exhaust brake someday and did a real simple double nut on a threaded rod so that I can adjust for the base opening.

Here are a couple pictures of mine and the little bit I wrote about it, mine is the he351ve and if I had it to do again I think I would go with the 451 instead, although I couldnt beat the price, buddy works at a dealership and it was a recall they were going to throw away

so greg at zz custom fab said that I can buy the flange for the individual runner manifold that zz makes for 165 bucks, he told me that he could send me blueprints of where they locate the holes on the head once the intake is milled off and i think ill build the rest from there, im going to build it individual runner style but keep it low so that i dont need to make new injector lines, i will probably send the head out to get fire ringed and have a valve job done but i will mostlikely do my own port work, can anyone give me info on what I need to fire ring the head?

so im currently waiting on some funds to buy a used head, anything i shold avoid? im going to get 9 mill head of a pee pump truck, I will have no problem using it on my block correct? im currently writing a CNC program for the operations to mill the head off hopefully ill get that done sometime in the next month, im waiting on greg from zz custom fab to give me some info on how to purchase the individual runner intake flange he sells, im going to have him make it out of 3/8 steel,

can anyone tell me who can fire ring a head?, should i fire ring or oring, clearly im not going to make 100 psi but id like to beable to hold 70 or so....advice?

They didn't put a 9mm head on a P-Pump truck. If it's a 9mm it's probably from a non-IC truck . You're better off finding a 7mm head, the 9mm are prone to cracking between the injector hole and the valve seats.

Fire ring vs O-ring is a hard one, I read about that on a few different forums my conclusion is fire ring is more work but a better way to go. It will cost a bit more but will allow you to build as much boost as you could ever want and hold it. There are a lot of people who will disagree but there always is. Here is a company who sells the gasket/fire ring kit with machining instructions. http://www.puredieselpower.com/catalog/9498-dodge-cummins-59l-valve-diesel-fire-ring-gasket-kit-p-2805.html

Wow, $255 for the set, and you still have to get the machining done!
