How safe is my front seal with this lift pump? Can't seem to find any info on it.

hey-Hey!!!,
Post the part number and I'll make some inquiries as to its performance on Monday. Not quite sure I can say if it is safe or not, but I should be able to get enough info that we can make a decent decision.
cheers,

The only number I could find on it was E35F-9C370-AA. The dieselbombers PS guys say it makes 50-80 psi, depending on what the regulator (which I believe is in the fuel filter housing on a 7.3) tells it to make. Looks like I gotta buy a regulator, or snap ring/loctite my spare IP before I use it.

Well I was bored today so I pulled the pretty much dead electric LP out of the 90 today, and started installing the 7.3 pump. I wanted to pressure test the new fuel gauge, lol. Went to the hardware store to get some fuel line, and disentegrated the lower ball joint in the 93. :;-|: Oh well. Got towed home and finished installing the pump. And it works great! It'll peg the 60 psi gauge in 2 seconds even at WOT. I was suprised that nothing leaked with that much pressure. So I still need a regulator cause it sucks driving flicking the pump on and off! I'll be getting the Mallory 4307 when money allows.

Lol, its pretty easy to maintain 5-15 psi with the switch, but when it hits 20 psi the pressure climbs FAST. Oh, and its tarp strapped to the inner fenderwell. Its just for a couple day till I get some balljoints into the 93. Which, by the way, gained 10 psi boost the other day when I backed the fuel screw OUT about 1.2 turns to lower the idle yesterday. Goes like snot now, and runs outta fuel pressure in under 2 seconds..goin easy on it tho till I get a pyrometer in it.

better inquire about what your doing to your internal pump timing... 60 psi is not at all what a ve was designed for

If you would have read the post above, ya woulda seen that I did check the oil. I took it to 60 psi twice, once before I started it to check for leaks, and once at wot to see how it kept up. I know that inlet pressure affects dynamic timing, and I figure flickin the switch for a second every 7-8 seconds to maintain 5-15 psi is better than lettin the ve suck its own fuel. It'll get me to the grocery store for a couple days! ;)

I got mine for free, not sure what a new one is, might be cheap from a wrecker. You'd have to ask a ford guy about reliability, I'm guessing they last half as long as a 7.3.

Until you get a regulator hooked up just tie it in to your blinker. On,off,on,off,on,off. :D
