What to do?

Postby lazyjoe » Mon Dec 13, 2010 11:48 am

Ok guys, started installing parts on my 93, W350 a couple of weeks ago. Pulled my turbo off, to install a HX35, W/ a 16c, that I've had for awhile now. Had'nt paid much attention to the turbo on the truck, (assumed it was stock). Got it off, and it is an H1C, W/ a 14c, wastegated. Now I don't know what to do. I've been looking around, and found a HX40 impeller and housing. Will it fit, and is it worth it? Plans for the truck, piston lift pump, 366 spring, 2nd gen. intake horn. Not sure on injectors. The truck will eventually have a deweze bale bed. Pull stock, and hay trailers. And be driven daily.

Thanks,
Joe

If I were to upgrade a turbo, I'd do the H1C. Simply because it the smaller of the two you have. Have you looked at the tag on the comp housing to see if its a WH1C. If it is then it has a 56mm inducer and not the 54mm that on the H1C. If in fact it is the WH1C then its basicly the same as a HX35.
I've just went through this same thing.
As far as the 60mm upgrade it is really nice. I've not seen 1100 on the egt gauge in a while.

hey-Hey!!!,
The H1C housing will fit your HX35. If the HX has 8 blades on its compressor it is nearly the same as the H1C you've taken off. If it is the 7-blade it is a slightly better upgrade; it will flow a bit more( 60 lb/min v. 52 lb./min ). It will also spool a bit faster with its smaller diameter compressor OD is 77 v. 83 mm. Worth wrenching on if it is in your hands already. For a baby H1C it is much more worthwhile.
cheers,
Douglas

ellis, it is a h1c, not a wh1c. Where did you get your 60mm at?

Douglas, they are both 8 blades.
