Fender Flares...?

Postby Ptothej » Mon Dec 27, 2010 9:38 am

I asked about the OEM fender flares that I see on the loaded models from a repituable parts guy at the local dealership, he said they never had flares but had chrome trim. My dads 90 towtruck has these chrome trims, and from the parts store I work at can order the chrome trim. But am I calling them by the wrong name? Are they not factory? I dont know if you guys have heard of "long johns", the fenderflare/mudflap? I put them on my truck to try and stop the mud and crap getting on my side windows, and they cover about 2" all the way around except the front portion of the front fender.. and it appears to me that is where 90% of the mud is coming from cause the stupid long johns did nothing!!! and they are ugly! The only other thing I can think of is Bushwacker, but I dont know if I want to go that route. What have you guys (the ones who have the same concern as me) done to fix this design flaw?

P.S I do have 35's I wanna put on.. they are on factory rims so they wont stick out too badly, but Im sure they will still stick out more then the OEM size.

He is not very repituable. The 89, 90 had chrome trim, 91,2,3's had the plastic flair/trim.

I just looked at an older picture of my truck... the mud did fling from the top portion of my fender.. but with the long johns its forcing it out the front and then down the side of the truck.. I suppose I cant win..
