Ride Smoother

Postby fourwheelininajeep » Tue Jan 25, 2011 8:53 am

I have a 90 4wd with 1 ton springs srw and a 93 2wd srw, I have a feeling the 2wd will ride a lot smoother after I get it done but I am looking for tricks and techniques to get these things riding smoother. My Dads has a soft ride 3 inch lift and it helps but it is still a beast. Am I crazy or can they ride more like a later model 1 ton without that real harsh smash when you hit bumps.

It won't help any with a coil spring axle but . . .

When the mood strikes me, I'll lift the truck and have the axles in full droop and pressure wash the chit out of the leaf-spring packs. After allowing things to dry, I'll flood the spring-packs with some kind of aerosol lube. Chain lube, high-tac type stuff that has a lot of solvent in it initially so as to get well in between the leafs and then the solvent evaporates leaving the lube.

Works surprisingly well. :)
