LE trim package

Postby captmatthew1 » Sat Jan 22, 2011 4:20 pm

how can you tell for sure your truck is le trim without looking at the badges. i think mine might be an le but it had been painted and whatnot before i got it and think that the p.o. may have removed the le badges.

i got a build sheet from dodge that said slt, but from my understanding slt was not available until the 2nd gen trucks. i also went to autocheck.com and ran the vin and it listed there as a 92 ram 250 custom/le.

i would like to confirm my suspicions on this and know for sure. what options came on the le? how are some other ways you can tell a le from a regular truck?

I would say the big difference is the interior options. My 92 LE has power locks, mirrors, windows, cruise control, tilt wheel, a/c and lots of fragile plastic trim.
I thinks the LE's had some chrome accents too like chrome trim on the tail lights?

thats why i think mine is a LE. i have power windows, locks, mirrors, cruise, tilt, a/c, i have chrome around my tail lights, the pretty tailgate trim, and the front bumper has all the black accents with the bumperettes.

the only thing i am missing is the LE emblems to confirm it. when i run the vin under autocheck it says custom/LE so i assume it is, but that doesnt confirm it for me. can i call a dealer? will they be able to tell me?

Pretty sure you have an LE.
I have never done this but supposedly you can give a dealer the vin and they can print you out a copy of the build sheet. This might be for the newer trucks though?
Worth a call to the dealer I guess.

Good luck. Let us know if they can give you a printout.

i previously got a build sheet, but from my research, they have reused some of the older codes for newer options. the build sheet says SLT Decor Group, which i am guessing replaced the LE Decor Group when they removed LE from the available options. here is a copy of my build sheet:

It won't have the 24 gallon fuel tank. All the furnace fueled trucks had the 30.

Yep, probably won't have the Power Rack and Pinion Steering and satellite radio either.

I guess they did reuse some of the old codes.

As I understand it the diesel truck came standard with the 30 gallon tank. Thats how its spelled out in the factory service manual. That being said, who knows what dodge did.

My truck will only hold about 22 gallons on a completely empty refill as well. It had the 30 gallon tank on the build sheet, but there's no way it would be able to hold it.

Pull the sender module, reach in and cut the inside part of the vent, a plastic tube. Mine stuck almost 3 inches down in the tank, now I can cram pack it full.
That being said, I've run my tank really low and only gotten 28 in it.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

Emissions or what ever. It leaves a larger air gap for when the fuel expands it won't run over on the ground.
