TPS Problem

Postby firstgenjunkie » Wed Feb 23, 2011 9:28 am

My TPS has been giving me problems for a while so I replaced it with a pot. No problems and it worked great until two days ago....now no matter what I do the truck will not shift into OD. Ideas for trouble shooting? I'm on the east coast and my books are back in Texas so any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Would the fusible link on the driver's side cause this problem? All my electrics are working as the should.

I'd get a test light and check for fire at the plug on the trans, with key on. If it does you could jump a ground to the other wire and use a toggle switch. If no fire then fuse checkin time.

Where is the plug on the tranny, near the VSS?

So I'm officially a knucklehead. i went to change the oil and saw that the OD was disconnected.

Anyhow, thanks for the help Ellis. My POT is doing it's job again and everything is as it should be.

I am very thankful Pete. Normally when something acts up, I'm beating my head against the firewall in frustration.....or inspiration depending on who you talk to. :)

Well, either way, frustration or inspriration, do it hard enough and long enough and you will "see the light".
Not to mention having to do body work to the firewall. :?

Mark.
