good deal??

Postby manyholes » Tue Mar 01, 2011 12:21 pm

sorry if this is in the wrong area.

got a line on a 89 d350 with 350km on the motor, got the rag w/ new clutch. blown rear end. apparently the axle is coming right out so im thinking he might of just blown the one sides hub apart, never heard of it on a FF axle. hes asking 1500 for it,
im thinking parts truck but also until i need the parts, spare driver.

ive got a D60 rear in my gas 91 , you figure that would hold up to a stock 89?? the truck would be thrown back together just as a runner not for working or towing for now.

ive also got a 14 bolt FF with a eaton l/s in it, its out of a 97 6.5 3/4t any idea if the spring perches would match up and ujoints the same as the ??80?? in the 350( i know my 250 has a 70) the reason im asking this is because the 14FF is already on my trailer and the d60 is still under my old 91 and its kinda snowed in so less work if the 14FF would fit. thanks for the input ahead of time

also i would mention that i wouldnt be asking about the fitment if i was actually home to measure this stuff, i wont be home for another 10 days, makes it a little hard to find a tape measure that can reach all the way home from here

Sounds like he lost a wheel bearing and the whole hub, drum, axle, and wheels are working there way out as a chunk. Thats the only way that can happen on a floater axle.

i was thinking the bearing nut backed off and everything walked off or the bearing burnt up and took the hub spindle out. did that to a front diff once, the caliper backing plate was the only thing holding the tire and hub in place, sketchy deal either way.

im waiting for pics of the truck and im gonna call him once hes off work today about the rear a little more, what do you figure about using those other diffs?

yes the 60 would live as long as you dont work it or beat it too hard. lots of dodge guys have put 14ff's under their rigs. its not a direct bolt in but not terribly difficult either. that would be my choice, since its already out.

for the 14FF , what has to be done on it?? spring perches im guessing, i need to be able to do this without a welder due to where the truck is, bout 3 hours from my place. there is a big scrap yard close to where he is. id like to have something i can just throw under and put in the driveshaft, shocks, new ubolts and bleed the brakes.

Depending upon how far he went and what all happened, you might be able to just go there and throw the rear back together to limp it home or up onto a trailer.

i should know more this afternoon about the rear and the rest of the truck, i got some pics of it now, its body definatly showing its age ,thinking i might strip the frame down and throw the 91 ex cab on it and a good front diff, then id have a good pair of 4x's.
whats the easiest way to upload pics from a blackberry to here??? never tried yet, but i could post some pics of the truck

put your mouse pointer on the pic in photobucket you want. A window will pop up below the picture with 4 lines of links. You want to put the mouse on the bottom one and click it. It will say " copied " real quick and then you post a thread here and hit paste. It will paste the [IMG] link and your good to go.
