Wide/drag tires for D250

Postby Broncdiesel » Fri Apr 08, 2011 10:42 am

Searched can't find much on wide tires for the rear of a D250. I need something with some tread life and the M&H tire is beyond what I need. Also, does anyone run 10" wheels with around 5" of backspacing on the rear? Thanks for replies

I want a little more life from the tire then a dot slick. I have been looking at the bfg radial t/a, the load range is my issue. I am agreeable on size...Mybe a 295/50-16

Get an 8" wide, 18" tall wheels like Eagle Alloys 050 series wheel http://www.arrowheadtiredemo.com/Eagle- ... d=10878838

And throw some Nitto Dune Grapplers on it http://www.discounttirezone.com/NITTO-D ... -3487.html

And you have yourself a 29" tall tire that is wide and fits our trucks.

I have Mickey Thompson baja MTZ 305 70 16's (90% worn) mounted on stock rims on the back of the 90. (I know,I know, too big for the stock width rims.Found em at the garbage dump and mounted them myself) Aired down to 30 psi, they hook suprisingly well with about 10" tread width. Load range D, good for 2910 lbs, 50 psi max pressure. Height is about 31".

I like those wheels! I wanted to stay with a 16" wheel for a vintage look, the tires are just not available. I guess bigger rims are the only way to go. Thanks for the replies!
