neutral safety switch

Postby ciamcoop » Mon Mar 07, 2011 4:29 pm

So I swapped out my auto for a getrag and I tried to start it but it won't crank. I think it's probably the neutral switch since I didn't wire it together. Maybe? .... I gave the connectors away with the auto so now I don't know what wires are for the neutral switch. Anyone know which wires they are? Thanks

I have an auto swapped to a getrag as well. I bought it this way and on the home from driving it I wondered what happen if i moved the shifter. Nothing happened when driving, but the possibly the next time I tried to start the truck it wouldn't start. I say possibly because I do not recall if I messed with the shifter before or after the no start. Yes I have tried simply shifting the truck back into park and neutral. So I might be in the same boat as you. I ordered a service manual off amazon for 50 bucks. When I get the book I will try finding the wire if no one else gets back to you first.

Just swapped the getrag in a 93 and and if your laying under the truck at the auto wiring harness look for a round plug with 3 wires going into it. What I did was cut the plug completely off, run the middle wire to a ground and that basically disables the neutral safety switch and the truck will start in gear. The remaining to wires go to the reverse lights and you run them right to the 2 prong switch on the shift tower of the getrag. DO that an your truck should start with the key. Hope that helps.
