Starting Issues

Postby peobryant » Sun Jul 10, 2011 8:39 am

I need some suggestions from you guys. A couple of days ago I replaced my starter with a NAPA reman, and my truck was starting perfectly for those few days. This morning I went to start my truck and nothing happened. The buzzer went off when I put the key in with the door open, but once I turned the key it turned off, nothing happened, and the buzzer didn't come on again.

I replaced my battery last winter, so I don't think it's that but I'm going to check anyways, and when I was driving last night the voltage looked fine, and everything was charging. I replaced my alternator less than a year ago as well, and my truck was charging so I know it's not that.

I'm leaning towards a battery now, but what else could cause the truck to not start overnight?

Thanks for any help

Yeah, I should've mentioned I checked all the connections already.

Anyone have some suggestions on a good battery? I've heard the Optima Red Tops are basically as good as they get, anyone want to confirm that?

Thanks again.

Parker,
Confirm that the battery is indeed bad, with at least a volmeter.
You also KNOW how these trucks are on electrical and fusible links, buddy. ;)

How's the family?

Mark.

Yep, it's the battery. The battery isn't that old though, which is what confused me. Ah well, looks like I'll be investing in a good battery now.

The family is doing good. Rory (my son) had his first birthday on April 28th, but other than that I've been working two jobs and going to school trying to get a degree. It's a pain in the ass now, and I rarely get to see Rory, Dallas or get any sleep, but I figure it'll be worth it when I finish school and get a job where I can support my family without working 85-90 hours a week.
